A limited-edition artistic photograph is an image that has been designed from the moment it is taken for its final rendition in print (framing, light, colour or black and white), then printed on fine art paper in a limited number. Each print is signed, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity specifying the total number of copies.
An artistic photograph is based on an author's intention: choice of subject, light, moment and sometimes addition of graphic work (textures, drawing, ICM) to get closer to a pictorial universe. A classic decorative photograph is often produced in large series, with no limit to the number of copies and no clearly identifiable author.
Limiting the number of copies ensures that each print remains rare and identifiable, reinforcing its artistic and emotional value over time. It also ensures that the collection remains consistent: an image will not be reproduced endlessly on other media with no connection to the photographer's approach.
Prints are made on high-quality fine art paper, often Hahnemühle paper, using pigment printing (giclée) to guarantee fine detail, deep blacks and colourfastness. For certain subjects, another fine art paper may be chosen when its texture or surface better serves the mood of the image.
Yes, the photographs in these collections are offered as limited editions, with a pre-defined maximum number of copies. The “limited edition” status and the number of copies remaining are indicated on each product sheet, along with the format and medium.
For certain limited edition artistic photographs, it is possible to choose an alternative support such as dibond (with or without American box) or forex. The supports available are specified on each card, and a specific request for a handcrafted wooden frame can be made by email before or after the order.
It's useful to check the format, orientation (portrait, landscape, panoramic), type of paper and support, as well as the lighting ambience of the image in relation to the place where it will be hung. For a professional project (gîte, hotel, office), check the homogeneity of the series (Brittany, sea, black and white, Fine Art) to obtain a coherent whole rather than a juxtaposition of isolated visuals.
