The Kerhervy boat cemeteryin the Morbihan (Brittany, France), at the mouth of the River Blavet at Lanester, is an iconic site where many shipwrecks have lain for decades.
These wrecks abandoned at the end of their service, have become silent witnesses to maritime history. The first wrecks, including dundees from the island of Groix used for tuna fishing, were brought here around 1923. At the time, Groix was France's main tuna fishing port.
It's undeniably one of the artist's most memorable encounters in this magnificent land of Brittany. These wrecks, mostly former tuna boats, frozen in mud and time, are impressive.
Loïc Delplanque : "It was without doubt one of my most memorable encounters in Brittany. It's a magical place, full of poetry, on the banks of the Blavet. There's a graveyard of boats (tuna boats, formerly based on the island of Groix). Whatever the season, the light there is always changing, each time unique. Time seems to stand still.
